The Fender Basses – Bass With A Place In Music History

In the 1950s, Fender put out the very first mass-produced electric bass guitar that consumers could buy to start their music career. The Fender bass guitar was an instant smash among professional traveling musicians. The first musicians to tour with the bass guitar were Roy Johnson and William “Monk” Montgomery. These two men collaborated with the broad-minded Lionel Hampton. Together, they debuted the Fender bass guitar successfully, making it very popular among their peers. Within a bit of the Precision Bass being released by Fender, another electric bass guitar was brought forward by Gibson. This new bass guitar appeared like more of a violin than the Fender bass. From this time forward, electric musical instruments turned into an integral component of popular music, and would stay there for the foreseeable future.

The Fender bass still appears and feels the same, other than a couple modifications. The original electric bass guitar models created by Leo Fender in the 1950’s were such fine instruments that they have become classics. Today, those original models, as well as those from the next couple of decades, are sought after by musicians. Fender tested modifications with some models that were altered from that basic model, and reviews were unfavorable. This experimenting proved that Fender hit the nail on the head with the original blueprint.

Despite the enormous conflict about which makes a better bass guitar, you can now purchase bass guitars in many shapes and materials. It is really all a matter of what pleases you best. Wood is the most commonly used construction material for bass guitars. Different exotic woods are, still, being used, and received well, such as alder and ebony as well as graphite. Much like shoes, you will want to try a few basses out to discover which sound and tone you like best. Furthermore, many professionals select whether or not the neck should have frets. The presence or absence of frets is another ingredient that alters the sound since the strings will be lying on a metal fret or a wood neck.

No matter the style of bass anyone would purchase, they are fun and have assisted in making music more pleasurable to listen to.
